Emily Chen-Bendle

Doctoral Student

Emily Chen-Bendle is a full-time doctoral student at the Institute of Higher Education.

She holds a BA in English from Columbia University, an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and an EdD from Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario, Canada), with a focus on leadership-based solutions to improve online student engagement in a university context.

Emily’s background includes industry experience as a marketer in both non-profit and for-profit organizations, including Target Corporation and America Online, and teaching experience as a marketing instructor in both community college and university settings.  Additionally, Emily has published a number of business case studies on marketing and digital marketing through Ivey Publishing. As a marketing instructor, she taught both face-to-face and online courses, the latter of which fueled an interest in researching online higher education.
