How to Apply to Ed.D. Program

Criteria and Standards for Admission

Applicants must hold a Master's degree or a J.D. from an accredited institution. The application process is completed online through the University of Georgia Graduate School. The GRE is not required. You will need the following information to complete the application:

  • Program Choice (Major): Higher Education
  • Degree Type: Ed.D.
  • Term: Spring 2026
  • Degree Objective/Major Code: EDD_EDHI_HI (select Buckhead campus)

The following required documents should be sent directly to the UGA Graduate School along with your application:

  • Current resume
  • Three letters of recommendation, including one from the applicant's current direct supervisor
  • 1000 word statement that explains
    • Your reason for pursuing admittance to this program
    • Why you will be successful in an accelerated program that includes coursework and a dissertation
    • Your preliminary and general idea for a dissertation topic and its relevance to you at this time
  • Transcripts from all previously attended institutions
