Doctoral Student
William Redding is a full-time doctoral student at the University of Georiga’s (UGA) Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education. A triple dawg, William earned his Master’s in the Study of Law from the University of Georgia School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the UGA’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences.

Before joining MIHE, William engaged in experiences focused on advocacy, college access, and student belonging by serving as President of Georgia Daze Minority Recruitment Organization, All-Georgia’s Rural Student Ambassador Program, outreach with UGA admissions, Georgia Ready Summer Institute, and working as Campus Coordinator for the UGA Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in STEM.

William’s current research interests lie at the intersection of educational policy and college access and success. Specifically, he seeks to understand how various levels (i.e., institutional, state, and federal) of policy impact Black and rural students' enrollment and completion rates. In addition to his research, he serves as a graduate research assistant under Dr. Meseret Hailu for her work concerning the experiences of undergraduate Black women in different geographic settings.
