PhD, 2025 Julianne O’Connell is a doctoral graduate of the McBee Institute of Higher Education. She currently serves as the Campus Kitchen Coordinator in the Office of Service-Learning at the University of Georgia. She previously served as the managing editor for the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement. Her previous graduate assistantship roles were as a graduate resident with University Housing, where she was named Graduate Resident of the Year in Spring 2019, and as a research assistant for Dr. Libby Morris. Her leadership experience within MIHE includes the Higher Education Student Society and the Public Service and Outreach Committee and she is the recipient of the 2022 Douglas Toma Excellence in Scholarship and Service Award. Julianne also served as a Service Ambassador for ServeUGA and has been active volunteer at the UGArden and with Campus Kitchen at UGA. Her research interests pertain to student support services and basic needs security, and her dissertation focused on how institutions address food insecurity on campus. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and German from the University of Georgia.
