EdD, 2021 Andy Brantley has served as president and chief executive officer of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) since July 2005. CUPA-HR’s membership includes over 31,000 higher education leaders from more than 2,000 colleges and universities. As the association for HR professionals in higher education, CUPA-HR provides leadership and advocacy regarding higher education workplace issues and trends. He currently also serves as a member of the Washington Higher Education Secretariat (WHES) Steering Committee. Presided over by the president of the American Council on Education (ACE), the Committee is a forum for Chief Executive Officers representing over 50 national higher education associations. Before he was employed at CUPA-HR, Andy worked for 17 years in higher education, serving as associate vice president and chief human resources officer at the University of Georgia, assistant vice president and director of human resources at Davidson College, and director of human resources at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He began his professional career as a labor relations representative for the Chrysler Corporation. Prior to his appointment as CUPA-HR’s president and CEO, Andy served the association for a number of years as a volunteer leader at both the regional and national levels. His service culminated in a term as chair of the national board of directors in 2000-01. He is also a recipient of the association’s highest honor, the Donald E. Dickason Award, which recognizes distinguished and continuing service to CUPA-HR and excellence in the field of higher education human resources.
