McBee Unveiling

The University of Georgia celebrated the lifetime achievements of Dr. Louise McBee by unveiling her portrait in a ceremony on Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. in the Administration Building.

President Morehead and Interim Provost Libby Morris told a story of McBee’s love of education, her fight for women’s rights, and her lasting impact on UGA and the state. The portrait will hang in the Administration Building along with those of past university presidents.

IHE honors McBee with a professorship in her name as well as the Louise McBee lectureship series, which is one of the few lecture series in the United States that focuses solely on higher education. Founded in 1989, the series has brought numerous persons of great distinction to the University of Georgia to comment upon key directions and themes in higher education. This year marks the 30th anniversary for the lecture, which will be presented by University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst on April 25th in the UGA Chapel. More details for the lecture are forthcoming.
