EdD, 2017 Steve McLeod retired from his role as the associate vice president and chief information officer at the University of North Georgia in December 2024. In his role at UNG, McLeod oversaw the IT operations on all UNG campuses and instructional sites. He provided strategic and tactical leadership to the IT leadership team to align IT strategy and efficient operations to the university’s strategic plan. The technology customer-base served consists of more than 16,000 end users, who use over 5,000 university-owned computing devices. Additionally, as deputy CIO, McLeod assisted the CIO in strategic planning, overall IT administration, budget management and leadership for the IT Division at the university. McLeod has led a life of service: first to country, then to higher education, and always to family. He had a 22-year career in the Navy, serving in the U.S. Submarine Force. After completing his military service, McLeod completed an undergraduate degree in computer science at North Georgia College and State University (now the University of North Georgia), then earned his MBA at Kennesaw State. McLeod is a proud husband, father and grandfather. He credits the support from his family for his long successful career in the Navy. He has two adult children, an engineer and a mathematician, and one grandson.
