Image: by Jewel Caruso Jeff Delaney (EdD 2011) has been named as the new chief information officer at the University of Memphis. University of Memphis president, Dr. Bill Hardgrave, spoke on Delaney's expertise and strong background for the role. Hardgrave said, "Coming from a similar technology background as Jeff, I saw he had a keen understanding of the multi-layered role of a CIO and its importance to the very structure of an institution." He continued, "[Delaney's] dedication to iterative IT improvement through innovation will help leader our University to greater achievements as we strengthen our research enterprise while optimizing our operational excellence." Previously, Delaney served as the vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Kennesaw State University. One of his most notable achievements while at KSU was securing a $500,000 grant to build a storage cluster for the Open Science Grid Consortium. The National Science Foundation grant supported the implementation of an RFID tracking system of IT assets and adoption of a new project management framework for development projects. Delaney expressed his excitement for the new roles, "I am committed to the bold strategic plan of the University and look forward to helping advance our commitment to research with relevance and ongoing student success."
