Rosaria Meek, assistant professor of Spanish and president of the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education, joins the 2022-2023 cohort of American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows program.

In the fall, Meek will begin her placement with the College of Charleston.

The ACE Fellows Program is a competitive national leadership development program that places emerging leaders in new campus environments for a year of intensive skills development, process observation, and team-based projects.

In the press release, ACE President Ted Mitchell said, “The ACE Fellows program and its career-enriching developmental opportunities offer institutions and its participants the unique opportunity to learn from one another. These Fellows engage in immersive learning experiences before they return to their home campuses armed with a fresh outlook, prepared to address whatever challenges lie ahead.”

Meek, a full-time faculty member at the University of North Georgia, participated in the Governor’s Teaching Fellows program in the summer 2015 session. She appreciates the importance of continuing professional education. Meek said, "I look at each professional development and leadership experience as a gift.”

Her experiences and connections made through the GTF program remain highly relevant. "I am still very connected to many GT Fellows, some from my cohort and some that I have met during the reunions. We stay in touch and have meaningful conversations. One of them has become a dearest friend."

Meek credits her GTF leaders and cohort with propelling a sincere interest, passion, and dedication to teaching and learning. “After 18 years in higher education, I still feel the same joy and excitement when I am learning and when I am teaching," she said.
