EdD, 2023 Marissa Pace serves as the associate vice president for business and financial affairs at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. In her role, Marissa has responsibility for the controller’s office including general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and student accounts, as well as for auxiliary services including the bookstore, insurance, and collegiate licensing. She and her team also manage external audits, financial reporting, and IRS tax compliance. Marissa works closely with the senior leadership team on topics related to fiscal management and process improvement across campus operations. Prior to joining Spelman College, Marissa had more than 15 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, compliance and process improvement with leading Fortune 500 companies including KPMG, LLP; The Coca-Cola Company; and AT&T. In addition to her business experience, she has taught various tax and accounting classes as an associate and adjunct professor for local colleges. She combines her financial and analytical background with a strong desire to serve her community. Marissa serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. She is a member of multiple community and professional organizations including The Georgia Society of CPAs and the National Association of Black Accountants. Marissa is a licensed certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner. She earned her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in accounting and her MBA with high honors from Florida A&M University. She enjoys travelling abroad to build cultural bridges of friendship and community.
