Image: Tashia Caughran was honored to be part of the Summer 2021 Governor's Teaching Fellows Program (GTF). Caughran is a senior lecturer of Chemistry at the University of North Georgia, Oconee Campus and was interviewed for a recent UNG blog post by the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership about her GTF experience. She said, "My experience was wonderfully positive. I gained not only more teaching tools, but I also gained some personal focus and encouragement from other GTF fellows." Not only did Caughran implement new tactics to monitor student learning and updates to her syllabi, the entire Chemistry department on her campus started using recitation sessions. While the GTF curriculum allows fellows to focus on their individual development and adoption of new techniques, Caughran also acknowledges the strong support among her cohort and program leaders. “My favorite part of the Fellowship was meeting other faculty who were also focused on improving their teaching and encouraging students in the classroom. It was energizing to spend time with faculty who were excited about teaching.” Read the full blog post at https://blog.ung.edu/ctll/caughran-reflects-on-governors-teaching-fellows-summer-symposium/.
