The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for an early or mid-career professor position (tenure-track at assistant or associate rank) to begin August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to support student research interests on critical issues in higher education, teach core graduate-level courses, advise and mentor doctoral students in their studies and research, engage in national and international partnerships that enhance the opportunities of students, pursue an active program of funded research; actively and effectively pursue and achieve publication in appropriate scholarly venues; and participate fully in the ongoing academic and governance activities of the McBee Institute.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in higher education or an equivalent terminal degree in a complementary field (e.g., economics, law, management, political science, public policy, sociology) and a record of scholarship and research productivity commensurate with the rank of assistant or associate professor at the University of Georgia. Candidates also should have expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods research as evidenced by their cumulative research portfolio. We especially encourage applications from candidates who use critical methodologies and approaches.

We seek candidates who will advance the multidisciplinary character of the Institute, add to the depth of the faculty, contribute to our pursuit of inclusive excellence, and bring innovative perspectives to the study of higher education.
Preference is for candidates to have:

  • Topical research interest and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Organizational change and governance in higher education
    • HBCUs, HSIs, and other minority-serving institutions
    • State and federal policy
  • Prior history teaching and mentoring graduate students
  • Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach courses in residential, low-residency, and online formats
  • Evidence of and potential for attracting external funding

Review of applications will begin October 15 and continue until the position is filled; candidates who apply by November 8 will receive full consideration.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, and the names of three references via UGA’s online hiring site at https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/399828. Other queries may be directed to Assistant/Associate Professor Search Committee at ihe@uga.edu
