Torie Johnson (EdD 2017) recently accepted a position with Baylor University as the new associate vice president for strategic communication and initiatives. Johnson, who currently serves as the associate commissioner for academic relations for the SEC, will transition into this role effective November 28th.

Johnson graduated from Baylor University with a journalism degree when she took a position at the Southeastern Conference headquarters. In 2005, she was asked to lead a new academic-focused initiative in the SEC. Her role prioritized both academics and athletics so student-athletes could receive a great education while working toward their athletics goals as well.

Her new position at Baylor University will entail leading proactive strategies, managing collaborations with partner universities and organizations, and overseeing University-wide brand, media, and public relations.

"I look forward to serving my alma mater as a member of the Division of Marketing and Communications. This is a homecoming for me, and I am excited to join the University that prepared me for my career," Johnson said in Baylor's press release.

Congratulations to Johnson on this new role. To read Baylor's press release, please its their website.
