Image: Charles Sanchez (IHE PhD candidate) received an AERA Dissertation Research Grant for 2021-2022. He will receive $25,000 to support access to data, travel, software, and other research-related expenses. Barbara Schneider, chair of the grant program’s governing board said, “The program supports new and early career scholars who are expanding how we use large-scale data to understand and inform education practices and policies.” Sanchez's dissertation, Here to Stay: Assessing the Relationship Between Pre-College Access Programs and College Enrollment and Persistence, takes two approaches in analyzing how pre-college programs influence the initial phases of college-going and also student persistence. His hopes his findings will improve understanding of the impact of pre-college programs.
