Image: The Journal of Higher Education published a new paper by Sondra N. Barringer (former IHE postdoc), Barrett J. Taylor (PhD 2012) & Sheila Slaughter. Their research tracks the influence and status of trustees at higher education institutions since the 1970s. In "Trustees in Turbulent Times: External Affiliations and Stratification among U.S. Research Universities, 1975–2015," the team finds that while highly-connected boards have become the norm among well-resourced private universities, the trend among public institutions has shown a decline in external influence and connectivity.
