Image: Drew Allen, the executive director of the Initiative for Data Exploration and Analytics (IDEAS) for Higher Education at Princeton University, visited Meigs Hall on March 4. Dr. Allen discussed the emerging role of the IDEAS program and how it complements the work performed by other units on campus, Institutional Research and IT, which also have robust data analytics portfolios. IDEAS is situated in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and it facilitates collaborations between scholars and administrators to benefit decision making. It seeks to optimize existing data around the campus by matching university data with administrators and programs that could utilize that data. IDEAS focuses on areas that are outside the traditional scope of Institutional Repositories, such as aggregate data from dining halls and recreation centers that could help inform health-related decisions and staffing. The Initiative, launched in 2017, is still proving its viability and utility and developing partners around the campus. Type of News/Audience: General News Tags: EPS
