Image: The Association for Institutional Research is pleased to announce Dr. Karen Webber as the recipient of the 2018 Sidney Suslow Scholar Award. The Suslow Award is the highest honor AIR bestows on an individual. In addition, this is an honor for the Institute of Higher Education since this is the fourth Suslow Award presented to faculty from the University of Georgia. Webber joins previous UGA faculty members Drs. Cameron Fincher and Patrick Terenzini, and current faculty member Rob Toutkoushian, who was the 2013 recipient. AIR is the world’s largest professional association for professionals who engage in higher education institutional research and decision support. Each year, AIR celebrates a member who has made extraordinary contributions through scholarly work to the field of institutional research and advanced understanding of the profession in a meaningful way. Webber was nominated and selected for this honor by her AIR peers. Past AIR President Jim Trainer states, “She is a trusted professional colleague and mentor and has contributed, and continues to contribute, invaluable service and leadership to the organizations to which she belongs, including AIR, NEAIR, SAIR, and SCUP.” Indeed, Dr. Webber received the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of College and University Planners (SCUP) in 2016 for her collaborative work in creating the SCUP Planning Institute. She is a long-time faculty member of AIR’s own Foundations Institutes and has contributed much in service to our regional affiliates. The formal presentation of this award took place May 29-June 1, in Orlando, FL at the AIR Forum annual conference. Type of News/Audience: General News Research
