Image: Jennifer Rippner (Ph.D. 2013), who recently served as an IHE postdoctoral research and teaching associate, has a new book out based on her dissertation research. The American Education Policy Landscape (Routledge 2016) provides a comprehensive overview of early childhood, K-12, and higher education policy issues – examining governance structures at the local, state, and national levels; the process of policymaking; issues of educational finance; and the impact of stakeholders. The book provides aspiring and practicing educators, analysts, researchers and policymakers with foundational knowledge and context for understanding education policy. While at IHE, Rippner was the 2012 recipient of the Zell and Shirley Miller Graduate Fellowship, which was established to support doctoral study of significant issues in the field of higher education and is awarded annually to an IHE doctoral student of high promise. Rippner currently works for the University System of Georgia as executive director for education policy and partnership.
