Jonathan Barefield is a doctoral student with the Institute of Higher Education. His research interests include analysis and development of policies aimed at improving students' access and retention. In particular, he is focused on a holistic approach to addressing issues impacting twenty-first century students, such as food insecurity, first-generation status, homelessness, and mental health concerns.
Jonathan holds a B.A. in religion and a B.S. in psychology (UGA), an M.A. in English language and literature (Central Michigan University), and an M.A. in religion (UGA). He currently serves as interim director of Tutoring Services at the University of North Georgia.
