EdD, 2015 Dr. Michael West serves as the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, Operations, Systems Management and Process Optimization at Edward Waters University in Florida. Prior to joining Edward Waters University, West held senior level leadership positions in operations and strategic planning at Shaw University, Carthage College, Loyola University Chicago, and Georgetown University. West has also served as a consultant and research analyst with a national higher education consulting firm, Stamats Educational Services Group. A U.S. Navy veteran, West served as a meteorologist in Alaska, New Zealand, and Antarctica. Initially he supported anti-submarine warfare operations in the Aleutian Islands. While stationed in Antarctica and New Zealand, he provided meteorological and ground support to NSF-funded research projects by teams of glaciologists from Russia, Germany, Italy, and Ohio State University. Education Education: West earned an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Alaska; a Bachelor of Arts in human services from Ottawa University; a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago; and a Master of Science in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. West earned a Doctorate in higher education management at the University of Georgia Institute for Higher Education.
