PhD, 2024

Matt Grandstaff is a doctoral graduate from the Institute of Higher Education. He currently serves as a postdoctoral fellow in the Office of the President at the University of Georgia. In this role, he works on the executive communications team to prepare speeches and remarks, write reports, and support strategic initiatives.

Prior to graduating, Matt served as a graduate research assistant to Karen Webber on the NSF-funded grant project that analyzed Work Related Experiential Activities (WREAs) and their relationship to geographic location. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Florida. While at the University of North Florida, he held roles in both Student Affairs and Institutional Research. In those positions, he was tasked with supporting accreditation efforts, assessment of departments and degree programs, and various internal research projects.

Matt’s research examines student activism through a Southern lens, focusing primarily on the voices of the students themselves. He is also interested in the impact of state-level financial policies at the individual student level.
