Doctoral Student Prior to joining Samford University, Mitchell spent seven years in the private sector serving in executive roles with Double Quick, Inc. and Refuel Operating Company, LLC in Business Operations, Facilities Management, Food Service, and Human Resources throughout Mississippi and Arkansas. Mitchell previously worked at the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, the University of the Pacific, and University of Southern Indiana all within Student Affairs. Mitchell's current responsibilities include overseeing the living experience for 2,400 students including residence life, student well-being, routine maintenance, and occupancy management. His professional interests focus on student engagement, auxiliary enterprises, student advocacy and accountability, and facility management. Mitchell is actively involved in the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta. Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management at the University of Southern Indiana and a Master of Science in Counselor Education with a focus in Higher Education Administration at Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Ellen-Brister reside in Birmingham, Alabama with their three children Rittman, Patrick, and Anne-Adelaide.
