PhD, 2017 Erin Ciarimboli is currently the director of undergraduate advising at the University of Connecticut where she collaborates with faculty and staff across UConn’s five campuses to enhance undergraduate advising efforts and support student success through leadership and advocacy, partnerships, data and assessment, professional development, and innovative problem-solving. Previously, as UConn’s director of university advising and pre-professional advising, she also supported students and alumni as they pursued medical, dental, and legal careers." Previously, Erin served as assistant director for learning, assessment, and data initiatives at the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Georgia. Her broad research interests include the intersection of access and policy issues, the sociology of higher education, and the independent college sector. During her time as a graduate research assistant at IHE, she has conducted research on liberal arts colleges, net price calculators, the Common Application, federal loan policy, and gender and trusteeship, presenting her findings at several national conferences. She was also involved in college access and immigration issues through her leadership at U-Lead Athens, a nonprofit organization dedicated to equal access to higher education for un(der)documented, first generation, and minority students of immigrant families in the local community. Erin earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Arts in higher education and student affairs from The Ohio State University. During her time at Ohio State, she worked in academic support roles in Student Athlete Support Services and at the Dennis Learning Center. Following her time at Ohio State, Erin worked at Kenyon College (Gambier, Ohio) for eight years as assistant dean for academic advising and director of New Student Orientation and Community Programs. These roles encompassed a variety of responsibilities in student affairs, including orientation, pre-orientation programs, women’s programs, and community service initiatives.
