Emily Jarvis

Doctoral Student

Emily Jarvis is a doctoral student with the McBee Institute of Higher Education. Emily serves full-time as Georgia College & State University’s first assistant vice president for student health and wellbeing. In this new AVP role, she engages campus stakeholders in infusing holistic student wellbeing into the curriculum, co-curriculum, recruiting, and all aspects of the university. In 2022, Emily was appointed co-director of the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan.

Previously, she was the executive director of student engagement at GCSU. In Emily's ten-year career in higher education she has served in the functional areas of international education, housing and residence life, student conduct, and family relations.

Emily holds both her masters and bachelors degrees in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia. Her research interests center around the influence of parental involvement on undergraduate retention, applications of FERPA, and the ways Student Affairs units engage with institutional strategic planning and accreditation.
