Ben Cecil is a doctoral student at the Institute of Higher Education. Currently, Cecil works full-time as the assistant director of the Department of International Student Life (ISL) in Student Affairs at the University of Georgia. In addition, Cecil is an adjunct instructor in the College of Education, teaching one section of Global Perspectives in Culture (Special Topics in Counseling and Human Development Services) each year. Prior to his current role, Cecil served as a senior coordinator with ISL. Ben is actively involved with international education initiatives in multiple international organizations, including serving on the leadership team for the NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) international education knowledge community, as well as the board for IASAS, the International Association of Student Affairs and Services.
Cecil holds a masters degree in higher education from Florida State University and a bachelors degree in international affairs from the University of Georgia. His research interests center broadly around internationalization, including student and faculty mobility, history of campus internationalization, internationalization in the curriculum, and intercultural education.
