Image: by Jewel Caruso Heidi Leming (PhD 2013) authored a chapter in the recently released book Delivering on the Promise of high-Impact Practices: Research and Models for Achieving equity, Fidelity, Impact and Scale. The book specifically explores the Tennessee's Board of Regents (TBR) System's work with high impact practices (HIPs). Leming's chapter, titled "Supporting Tennessee's Completion Agenda: High Impact Practices," shares TBR's vision to use high impact practices as one avenue to close equity gaps to meet Tennessee's statewide drive to 55 completion target. The chapter also includes a discussion regarding how to work with faculty on quality implementation of HIPs from a system-level perspective. Leming talks about her research in the chapter saying, "as the first system to collect student level data on participation in HIPs, TBR has been able to identify which practices are particularly impactful for specific populations in order to funnel resources and support to advance the most promising practices at an institutional level." Leming is currently the vice chancellor for student success at the Tennessee Board of Regents: a system that boasts 27 technical colleges, 13 community colleges, and 6 universities. Previously, she served as the vice president of student affairs at the College of Coastal Georgia. The book can be found here. Type of News/Audience: Alumni Research
