John Fuchko III (EdD 2019) was named as the new interim president at Dalton State College and started on June 1, 2023.

In the news release, Sonny Perdue, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, said "Dr. Fuchko has outstanding experience as a campus leader and with the university system office, and will serve Dalton State and its students, faculty and staff well in the interim."

Dalton State has an enrollment of around 4500 students. The Dalton campus offers a variety of baccalaureate and associate degrees and serves the communities of north Georgia through a variety of partnerships with local organizations, industries, governments, and schools.

Fuchko expressed his enthusiasm, "I'm looking forward to joining the Dalton State community and working with faculty and staff as we continue to serve the college's hard-working students and keep them headed for success."

Fuchko served as the vice chancellor for Organizational Effectiveness at the University System of Georgia (USG) and recently served as the interim presidents for Columbus State University from 2022 to 2023.

As vice chancellor, Fuchko oversaw USG's enterprise risk management, compliance & ethics, athletics oversight, strategic implementation, accreditation and various other administration duties. For seven years, Fuchko also served as the chief audit officer and vice chancellor for internal audit with USG as well. During his time at USG, he oversaw three institutional consolidation efforts.

Alongside his career in higher education, Fuchko is also a colonel in the Georgia Army National Guard.

Congratulations to Fuchko for another exciting transition!
