IHE graduate Kathy R. Pharr (EdD 2011) assumes the dual responsibility of chief of staff and interim vice president for marketing and communications on July 1, 2020. She has served in a variety of roles throughout her 27 years at UGA, and most recently as chief of staff and associate vice president for institutional affairs.

“I am honored and humbled to be asked by President Morehead to serve the University of Georgia in this expanded role. I am deeply appreciative of the strong teams in place in both the President’s Office and the Division of Marketing and Communications, and I look forward to leading my colleagues in these offices as we prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead,” stated Kathy.

In an email to UGA staff announcing the changes, President Jere Morehead noted, "I recognize that these additional responsibilities will be immense for Dr. Pharr, and I appreciate her stepping up to assume them in a time of budget crisis. I am confident that Dr. Pharr will handle this new assignment with exceptional performance and true professionalism."

Kyle Tschepikow (PhD 2012), special assistant to the president and director for strategy and innovation, will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the President’s Office where he has served since 2014. “I am grateful that President Morehead has entrusted me with these new responsibilities, and I am looking forward to supporting the Office of the President in this capacity," said Kyle.
