EdD, 2011 Kathy Pharr serves as vice president of marketing and communications and as chief of staff to President Jere Morehead at the University of Georgia. As chief of staff, she is responsible for the overall organization and administration of the President's Office. She serves as the liaison to the UGA Foundation, the UGA Research Foundation and with the Office of University System Chancellor. Among her duties is also liaison on issues regarding academic and faculty affairs and the directors of Legal Affairs, Equal Opportunity Office, and Internal Audit report through Pharr to the president. She previously was the assistant vice president for finance and administration and director of Health Sciences Campus administration at the University of Georgia. Her primary duties are to lead the university’s transition to the new Health Sciences Campus, ensuring that all buildings are prepared and all functions required to support the academic enterprise are in place as each facility comes online beginning in 2011. In addition, she coordinates many other administrative matters for Finance and Administration and serves as a liaison in various campus-wide initiatives. Prior to joining Finance and Administration, Pharr served as assistant to the president at the University of Georgia and was the liaison with the university’s facilities and fund-raising units. Previously, she served as director of communications and public relations at the UGA School of Law. Before joining UGA, Pharr served as a television news reporter in Louisville, Kentucky, and Savannah, Georgia. She earned a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Georgia in 2011 as a member of the Institute of Higher Education’s first Ed.D. cohort. Pharr also holds a master’s in public administration (with a specialization in higher education) and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UGA.
