Libby V. Morris

University Professor and Zell Miller Distinguished Professor of Higher Education

Libby V. Morris is the Zell Miller distinguished professor of higher education and faculty advisor to the Institute's Executive Ed.D. program.

Professor Morris also serves as the executive director for the Georgia College Advising Corps, an affiliate of the National College Advising Corps, which places recent college graduates in high schools to assist underserved students with the college search, financial aid, and application processes. Morris played a critical role in establishing the program in 2005. For over twenty years, GCAC has been a model for other advising programs across the nation. 

Morris holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her teaching and research interests include evaluation and assessment, faculty development, academic programs, and online education. In recognition of her work, she received the title of University Professor in 2022 and several other prestigious awards for excellence in teaching and in public service. In 2005, she was invited into membership in the UGA Teaching Academy.

Morris has presented research and/or conducted workshops at meetings of the European Association for Institution Research, Association for the Study of Higher Education, Association for Institutional Research, Educause, WebCT, National Forum on First-Year Assessment, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She served as editor (2002-2019) of Innovative Higher Education, a peer-reviewed, international journal focusing on innovations in post-secondary education. 

Morris served as director of the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education, 2006-2022, with breaks in 2010 when she was vice provost for academic affairs, and 2013-2014 and 2018-2019 when was interim senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
