Image: by Jewel Caruso Marion Ross Fedrick (EdD 2021), 10th president of Albany State University, was recognized in Georgia Trend Magazine as one of Georgia's Most Influential Leaders in Education. Under her leadership, ASU's grant activity has more than doubled which includes a 2.9 million dollar Connecting Minority Communities Program federal grant. Fedrick plans to use the money to build a global campus for ASU. "We want more degree completion through online programs." Fedrick said in the article. "We're focusing on students who have not completed their degrees." Jennifer Frum (PhD 2009) reappears on the Most Influential List. As the first woman to serve as the vice president for public service and outreach, she was previously recognized in 2022. Her position provides leadership for UGA's outreach and engagement and their economic development efforts across all of Georgia. "This model is unique in higher education because we work hand-in-hand with the community on locally identified challenges to address those challenges." Frum told GA Trend. Ron Newcombe (EdD 2011) serves as Chattahoochee Tech's president and highlighted his commitment to ensuring they serve as "the vanguard of exceptional technical education." Chattahoochee Tech is currently the largest technical college in Georgia serving over 14,000 students. Under Newcombe's leadership, the college opened the Superior Plumbing Veterans Education and Career Transition Resource Center with the goal of helping veterans translate military skills and experience into high-demand careers.
