Image: by Jewel Caruso Effective October 5, John Fuchko III (EdD 2019) has been named the president of Dalton State College. Fuchko had been serving as its interim president since June of this year. USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue expressed his commitment to position the college to build on its reputation for positive student experiences, “In John, we have just such a leader," said Chancellor Perdue. "He has spent decades in service to public higher education and has demonstrated success in working with faculty, staff, and students to achieve great results.” Fuchko commented on his new transition with enthusiasm. “We are transforming generations of families and improving communities through what we do in higher education." He continued, "Dalton State is on the rise, and I’m honored to join faculty and staff as we continue to focus on the regional workforce and our students’ success.” Fuchko served as the interim president at Columbus State University, 2022-2023. Over the past 17 years, he also held several leadership roles at the University System of Georgia, including vice chancellor for organizational effectiveness.
