The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education (MIHE) seeks a postdoctoral research and teaching associate for the 2023-24 academic year.

MIHE is a multidisciplinary academic unit committed to advancing higher education policy, management, leadership, and student outcomes through research, graduate education, and outreach.

The postdoctoral research and teaching associate will work with MIHE faculty and students to develop and pursue research funding opportunities, extend external scholarly and funding networks, enhance internal research infrastructure, and participate in collaborative and independent research projects. In addition, the postdoctoral associate will teach in the core curriculum and will mentor PhD and Executive EdD students on quantitative or mixed-methods research.

A doctorate in the social sciences, public policy, education or management prior to the start date is required for this position. Expertise with quantitative or mixed research methods, as demonstrated through formal instructional experience or established publication history, is also required. Experience with research-based publications and conference presentations is expected. Experience in seeking or securing research funding is desirable.

MIHE postdoctoral associates have a rich history of success in employment after their stay at the Institute. After finishing their MIHE appointments, five recent postdoctoral associates have assumed faculty positions in highly ranked higher-education programs in the U.S. and another assumed a research position in a university-based research center overseas. MIHE strongly encourages applications from members of under-represented groups.

The postdoctoral associate is needed to locate in proximity to Athens, GA and be available to teach and meet with faculty members, staff, and students in person. This appointment may be renewed for a second academic year upon mutual interest, administrative approval, and the availability of funds.
