Alex Cassell

Alex Cassell currently works at the American Council on Education as the National Engagement Associate and within Government Relations. 

Cassell's research interests surround higher education policy and politics, with special attention to governance structures, finance, and policy agenda setting.

Cassell earned bachelor’s degrees in history and political science from East Tennessee State University (ETSU). While at ETSU, Cassell held positions with New Student and Family Programs and helped coordinate orientations and programming for entering students. Prior to enrolling at IHE, Cassell worked in the ETSU President’s Office where he conducted policy research and aided in the implementation of ETSU’s first Board of Trustees. Most recently, Cassell completed an internship in the Georgia Governor’s Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs. There, he worked on projects related to higher education access, innovation, and the P-20 pipeline.
