MEd, 2019 Alex Cassell is the Assistant Director for Recruitment and Selection for the Roan Scholars Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University. He previously worked as the National Engagement Associate at the American Council on Education. Cassell's research interests surround higher education policy and politics, with special attention to governance structures, finance, and policy agenda setting. Cassell earned bachelor’s degrees in history and political science from East Tennessee State University (ETSU). While at ETSU, Cassell held positions with New Student and Family Programs and helped coordinate orientations and programming for entering students. Prior to enrolling at IHE, Cassell worked in the ETSU President’s Office where he conducted policy research and aided in the implementation of ETSU’s first Board of Trustees. Cassell completed an internship in the Georgia Governor’s Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs. There, he worked on projects related to higher education access, innovation, and the P-20 pipeline.
