The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education is delighted to welcome Dr. Attila Pausits to Meigs Hall as a visiting scholar this summer. Dr. Pausits serves as a full professor of higher education research and development and as the head of the department for higher education research at the University for Continuing Education Krems in Austria.

Reflecting on his visit, Dr. Pausits shared: “My visit offers an opportunity to deepen my comparative understanding of governance, policy, and organizational development in U.S. higher education. It allows me to engage with leading scholars, gain insights into current research priorities, and explore methodological approaches that complement or differ from European traditions.”

Dr. Pausits is no stranger to the McBee Institute. He previously visited Meigs Hall in February 2024, accompanied by students, alumni, and faculty members from the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE) Program, where he serves as Academic Director.

In addition to his academic program leadership, Dr. Pausits leads several initiatives serving the field of higher education, including as spokesman of the Austrian Higher Education Researchers Network, editor-in-chief of the Zeitschrift für Hochschulentwicklung (Journal for Higher Education Development), and a founding member of the Global Observatory of Higher Education Changes (GOHEC) – a collective dedicated to facilitating a global dialogue and understanding of the changes and trends in higher education. Dr. Amy Stich represents the McBee Institute in GOHEC and collaborates with higher education scholars on several research projects.

During his stay, Dr. Pausits will share his research with faculty, staff, and students through presentations focused on the European University Initiative and academic mobility and research trajectories and through individual and small group discussion. McBee Institute director Erik Ness commented, “We are honored to welcome Attila Pausits back to Athens as a long-standing friend and partner of the McBee Institute. His visit provides the opportunity to enhance our existing partnership and consider additional opportunities for international collaboration.”
