Carlie Cooper Receives Louise McBee Scholarship

Carlie L. Cooper, current PhD student, has been selected to receive the 2025 Louise McBee Scholarship sponsored by the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education (GAWHE). Honoring Dr. McBee, the Louise McBee Scholarship supports educational enrichment for women exhibiting leadership potential in a higher-education field.

“I have been in awe of and inspired by Louise Mcbee's work and legacy since I joined the Louise McBee Institute in 2021. It's an honor to be awarded a scholarship in her name from the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education.  This scholarship will help fund my dissertation work and conference travel which is vital to my development as a Higher Education scholar. I am grateful for the support!” said Cooper.

The scholarship will not only help Cooper continue her work here at the Institute, but it will also benefit her mentor and major professor Amy Stich, who will be awarded funds to use for professional development.

“Carlie has already demonstrated a natural ability to lead as other admirable women such as Louise McBee have led – with passion, integrity, equity-mindedness, and a vision that makes space for those not yet seated at the table. I am incredibly fortunate to work with such a committed and talented student colleague.” said Stich.

Cooper will be formally recognized at the GAWHE Annual Conference, which takes place February 24-26, 2025 at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Georgia. For more details, please visit their website.
