Image: The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy R. Cain, professor of higher education, has been appointed Associate Director at the McBee Institute. In this role, Dr. Cain will support the Institute’s academic mission by providing leadership in key areas such as faculty affairs, communications, and strategic planning. His experience and thoughtful insights will be instrumental in advancing the Institute’s commitment to excellence in higher education research, teaching, and service. “Dr. Cain is a long-standing faculty member whose leadership and service have shaped the Institute in countless ways,” said Erik Ness, director of the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education. “From serving as the editor of the McBee Report, coordinator of the master’s program, and director of the Fincher Library to chairing committees on professional development and communications, he is well-prepared for this new leadership role in the McBee Institute.” Dr. Cain joined the McBee Institute in 2013 after serving as a faculty member and the higher education program coordinator in the College of Education at the University of Illinois. He holds degrees from Duke University (B.A.), The Ohio State University (M.A.), and the University of Michigan (Ph.D.). His research spans historical and contemporary issues in higher education, with a particular focus on academic freedom, student activism, and unionization.“I am honored to take on this role, as the McBee Institute and its people are important to me,” said Dr. Cain. “The Institute has been my academic home for a dozen years and I look forward to supporting our faculty and staff in doing their good work.” The McBee Institute congratulates Dr. Cain on this appointment and looks forward to his continued leadership in this new role.
