Kate Maine (Ed.D. 2019) was named as the inaugural vice president for marketing, communications and workforce development in a position shared between Dalton State University and Georgia Highlands College.

Dalton State President John Fuchko III said, "Dr. Maine is an experienced higher education professional who understands the importance of Dalton State to our region, and I am very excited to have her join the college."

Maine had previously served as the chief of staff in the Office of the President and as vice president of university relations at the University of North Georgia. Her broad portfolio at UNG included community engagement and marketing and communications.

Maine's extensive career in public relations has spanned education, government, corporate, and non-profit sectors. In 2016, Maine received the Award of Excellence for Communications and Marketing from the Georgia Education Advancement Council.

Fuchko and Maines have worked together previously and graduated in the fifth cohort of the McBee Institute’s Executive Ed.D. program.
