In the fall, Danielle Buehrer (EdD 2021) started to a new role at Indiana University Bloomington as the associate vice president of enterprise effectiveness and accreditation under the Office of University Academic Policy, where she is also the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

The HLC ALO role is specific to the Bloomington campus, as each campus within Indiana University is individually accredited by HLC. With a student enrollment of over 90,000 students, Bloomington is the flagship and largest unit of the multi-campus university.

As an associate vice president, Buehrer oversees the review, approval, and reporting of academic programs, the review of university-level administrative units, campus-level administrators, and deans, and the coordination of leadership support for the Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching. She also serves as the chief staffer to the Academic Leadership Council, a group of academic professionals from across all of IU’s seven campuses.

Buehrer had previously served as the vice provost of institutional effectiveness at Mercer University, the executive director of institutional quality and accreditation at Kennesaw State University, and accreditation liaison for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

“It is an exciting, if challenging time, to be part of Indiana University’s well-established academic, research, and cultural community,” said Buehrer. She continued, “I look forward to making significant contributions through my work in accreditation and policy review, as well as getting involved in the many campus and Bloomington-area events and initiatives that make this place so personally and professionally enriching.”
