Image: by Jewel Caruso Charles Ambrose (EdD, 1989) was featured on the Complete College America (CCA) podcast CCA On the Air discussing student success at Henderson State University with CCA President Dr. Yolanda Watson Spiva. In the episode, Ambrose discussed his transition to Henderson State and the challenges they had and what he had to overcome to get the university's financial stability back on track. Ambrose stated that they have been able to give HSU a chance to thrive again and focus on bolstering student success as a public institution. He also talked about the benefits and issues with drastic changes to an institution, saying "change is difficult for higher education." Ambrose remains optimistic about success in higher education operations if institutions reflect their mission. He said, "Mission, market, margin. There's alignment over who you are, who you serve, and your role, especially as a public institution. [The mission] needs to be clearly understood and aligned across how you allocate your resources." Ambrose has been the chancellor of Henderson State University since 2021. Previously, he was the president of education success at KnowledgeWorks, president of University of Central Missouri, and president of Pfeiffer University. The podcast episode can be found here.
