EdD, 2021

In 2018, Margaret Laurence returned to Boston College to work on the Initiatives for Formative Education. She works with the provost on this university-wide initiative, which is central to the university’s strategic plan to strengthen the commitment to formation among students, faculty and staff. Specifically, the Jesuit tradition of formative education – the intentional integration of the intellectual, social, and spiritual.

Beginning her career at College of the Holy Cross, Margaret worked in many different departments, including fundraising (both annual giving and parent programs), as well as launching the Alumni Admissions Program.  From 2000 - 2005, Margaret continued her work in parent programs at Boston College working closely with parent volunteers to support the university philanthropically and in various other capacities. During this time, Margaret accompanied BC students on Arrupe International trips and Kairos Retreats, as well as participating in an inaugural trip to Nicaragua with faculty and staff. Margaret continued her career at Harvard Chan School of Public Health securing high-end annual funds and major gifts, along with working with volunteers on special events.  One of many highlights was accompanying a team to sub-Saharan Africa. Margaret then served as the executive director for the Iacocca Foundations.  For nearly eight years, she enjoyed the variety of grant making, strategy and operations, fiduciary responsibilities, and many other levels within nonprofit management.

Margaret served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in California.  In addition to her Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Management, she earned a Bachelor degree from St. Anselm College and a Master of Arts in higher education administration from Boston College.
