Postdoctoral Research Associate Kaitlyn N. Stormes, Ph.D. (she/her), recently graduated from UCLA’s Higher Education and Organizational Change program and aims to become a faculty member at a four-year public minority-serving institution in the United States. As a former computer programmer, she is committed to fostering more inclusive computing environments for women across races/ethnicities and People of Color more broadly. Her dissertation study and future research agenda focus on equity and inclusion in computing by curating best practices to promote greater identity, self-efficacy, and belonging. In August 2024, she began her Postdoc with IHE, working with Dr. Jennifer Blaney on her funded research project(s) studying upward transfer students in undergraduate computing. Before transitioning to UGA, Kaitlyn served in several professional higher education roles in California, where she is from. In particular, she brings experience with institutional research, academic advising, program evaluation, and data management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), and California Polytechnic University, Humboldt (Cal Poly Humboldt). Outside of academia, she lives in Athens with her husband (a PhD student at UGA) and their two cats. Coming from California, she loves the coast but she also enjoys traveling, doing yoga, and hiking.
