EdD, 2017 Jeff P. Stein serves as the president of the Mary Baldwin University. Prior to this role, Stein served as the vice president for strategic initiatives and assistant professor of English at Elon University. Stein additionally served as associate vice president, chief of staff to the president, and secretary to the Board of Trustees at Elon. Before serving on the president’s cabinet, he served as associate dean of students for Service-Learning, Multicultural Center, and Residence Life. He worked on the Elon Commitment strategic plan, the development of Elon’s thriving Jewish life program, and the residential campus initiative. He has authored and co-authored publications on a number of topics, including effective student affairs-academic affairs partnerships in service-learning, creating a welcoming campus for diverse groups, and developing a campus focus on multi-faith learning. Most recently he has co-authored a book chapter on harnessing institutional leadership in support of diversity-related strategic plans. He has also published poems in Third Coast, Diner, Heliotrope, New Delta Review, Phoebe, Many Mountains Moving, and other publications. Stein earned a bachelor’s degree from Beloit College, a master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and a master of fine arts in creative writing from Colorado State University.
