EdD, 2017 Steve Bettner works as the Senior Manager of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC). Previously, Steve led as the president and CEO of a new higher education consulting firm focused on comprehensive auxiliary management, planning and university solutions (CAMPUS). Based in Washington, D.C., he worked with institutions to reimagine their auxiliary service infrastructures and products He had served as the assistant vice president for auxiliary services at New Mexico State University. Bettner, a former naval officer, business leader and Iraq war veteran, grew up in a military family with great love and respect for his country. Throughout his childhood and later as a military officer himself, Bettner has had the opportunity to travel the world and developed a deep appreciation for culture and diversity. Bettner is regarded internationally as a top contracting expert, having served as the director of business services at the University of South Florida and in senior executive leadership positions for contract negotiations at Lockheed Martin and for the Secretary of Defense. Most recently he has enjoyed teaching contracts at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Bettner is regularly sought to teach other contracting professionals, as well as to review, examine and negotiate multi-million-dollar contracts. Raised in Daytona Beach, FL, Bettner attended college at the University of Tampa, where he played baseball and was a member of ROTC. He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy and graduated the Naval Nuclear Power School, Submarine Officer School and the Supply Officer School before serving on multiple ships and submarines around the globe. Bettner later earned an MBA at Northwestern University-Kellogg School of Management.
