David Meyers Honored with Mark Chaffin Award for Child Abuse Prevention

The Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education congratulates David Meyers, current Executive Ed.D. student and Co-Director of the Embark Georgia Center at UGA’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, on being honored with the Mark Chaffin Award at the 2025 Georgia Conference on Child Abuse Prevention.

Named in memory of Dr. Mark Chaffin—a pioneering researcher and advocate in the field of child maltreatment—the award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated sustained, outstanding commitment to preventing child abuse and neglect across Georgia. Dr. Chaffin’s legacy is rooted in ethical leadership and a deep dedication to supporting vulnerable children and families.

David exemplifies these values through his work with Embark Georgia, a statewide initiative focused on increasing college access and success for youth who have experienced foster care or homelessness.

The McBee Institute celebrates David’s achievement and the impact of his work, which continues to shape a more inclusive and supportive landscape for students across Georgia.

Congratulations, David, on this well-deserved recognition!
