Program Coordinator, Georgia College Advising Corps

Makyla Jackson is the Program Coordinator for the Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC), where she is deeply committed to supporting first-generation and low-income students. Prior to joining GCAC, Makyla served as a College Advisor through Georgia State University, an experience that ignited her passion for student success. As a first-generation and low-income college graduate, she understands firsthand the transformative power of higher education and is dedicated to bridging the gap for students facing similar challenges.

Makyla holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University.

Her career continued as a Student Success Advisor at Georgia Gwinnett College, where she continued to advocate for and support first-generation students. Returning to the College Advising Corps through the University of Georgia represents a full-circle moment for Makyla, allowing her to collaborate with advisors and work closely with the program’s director to further its mission. She is excited to continue her impactful work and contribute to the success of both students and the dedicated team at GCAC.
