EdD, 2023 Sherontae Maxwell is currently the Assistant Director of Access Programs at the University of Georgia. In her role she oversees the portfolio of seven (McNair/Student Support Services/STEM-H/Talent Search/Upward Bound & Upward Math & Science) federally funded grant programs by the US Department of Education. TRIO programs at UGA provide access to over 1500 students in Northeast Georgia this include 6-12 grade and current UGA students. Sherontae provides strategic leadership and uses research-based strategies aimed at improving and expanding efforts to support and mentor first generation, Pell-eligible, students with disabilities and underrepresented students. She provides oversight for a portfolio of operating federal budgets (combined $6.5M), and advocates and coordinates several college-wide efforts to promote student success, persistence, and timely graduation. Sherontae brings over twenty years of experience and leadership in the access arena where she serves on state, regional and national boards and trains TRIO personnel providing leadership and guidance. Sherontae earned a Bachelor of Service Learning from Mercer University and a master’s in social work from Savannah State University.
