Raymond Carnley

Raymond Carnley serves as the principal for strategy and services at the Winkler Group– a full service fundraising firm located in Charleston, SC serving institutions of higher education, independent schools, healthcare, community and faith-based organizations, and the arts. An expert in major and planned giving, campaign planning and management, and donor cultivation and stewardship, Raymond has personally secured or directed more than $250 million in charitable giving for Winkler Group clients. 

Dr. Carnley began his development career with Habitat for Humanity International, where he played an instrumental role in securing the lead gift, Habitat's largest at the time, for the $500 mill Rebuilding Our Communities campaign. From Habitat, he transitioned to higher education, where he secured pace-setting campaign gifts for institutions like Emory University, Barton College, Presbyterian College, and Middle Georgia State University. 

Most recently, he served as vice president for university advancement at Middle Georgia State University and executive director of the MGA Foundation; overseeing development, alumni relations, marketing and communications operations. Earlier in his career he served in senior leadership positions with Georgia Highlands College, Presbyterian College, the Forest History Society (an academic affiliate of Duke University), and Emory University.

He regularly speaks and presents at professional conferences, where he specializes in the planning and implementation of major capital campaigns; establishing and growing annual revenue; cultivating and soliciting major and planned gifts; and developing strategic marketing plans to identified constituents.  He is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Georgia Education Advancement Council. An Eagle Scout, he regularly volunteers his time serving as a camp and aquatics instructor for the Central Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

He received a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia Southwestern State University and a Master of Education, with a concentration in higher education administration, from Columbia College.  He holds the professional certification of Certified Fund Raising Executive from CFRE International. He is an alumnus of the executive doctoral program in higher education management through UGA's Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education.
