Doctoral Student Jolssen Rodríguez (He, Him / Él) is a full-time PhD student at the McBee Institute of Higher Education. He is a recipient of the McBee Scholar Award and is a Doctoral Scholar Fellow. He currently serves as a Research Assistant and co-Project Manager under the research studies of Dr. Amy Stich. His research interests include Decolonial Thought and Approach and Minoritized Student Experiences in Higher Education. Jolssen received his Master of Arts degree in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice & Leadership (DEIJL) from Tufts University in 2024, while working full-time as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Before his role as Assistant Director, he was a full-time Admissions Counselor and part-time student fulfilling his certification in DEIJL. He published his first paper titled, "First-Generation Students of Color Experiencing Imposter Syndrome at a PWI" after graduating from Tufts. Jolssen received his Bachelor's degree in Global Studies and Public Community Service from Providence College in 2021. During his undergraduate experience, Jolssen was heavily involved in student organization groups, institutional organizations, and community well-being. He also transferred to Providence College from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in his sophomore year and holds a special place in his heart for transfer students. Jolssen is a Boston-born child of a Dominican-Sicilian household and grew up in Northshore Massachusetts.
