Doctoral Student Huawei Huang is a full-time PhD student at the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia, where she works with Dr. Jennifer Blaney as a research assistant. Her research examines equity and identity in higher education, with particular attention to two areas: international transfer students and women in STEM. She wants to dive deep into how gender, race, and immigrant identity shape educational and career opportunities, and how institutional policies and practices influence access, belonging, and advancement across these populations. Huawei earned her Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and interned with the Global Engagement Team in the Office of International Student Services. Outside of academics, she enjoys traveling, but when not traveling, she prefers to stay home, watching TV and spending time with her cat.
